Art & Rock Collecting

Today, my kids had the opportunity to meet up with a friend of mine who is getting started as an artist & painter. She is super creative and did a painting of my parents’ favorite spot along Lake Michigan. After seeing her work, I asked if she would be willing to do a couple of paintings for our kids.

She happily agreed and today was the day we got together to put together our ideas for the paintings. It was fun watching my kids tell the artist what they wanted incorporated into their paintings. I’m stoked to see how they turn out!!

After that meeting, my wife and I took our kids to a beach that my dad recommended. I had never been to this beach, but he told us that it is a great spot to collect rocks. Interesting…

Who knew rock hunting could be so fun?? Lots of people descended on this quaint, off the beaten path, and somewhat hidden gem of a beach. And they were prepared with buckets, waders, and heads craned to the sand.

My daughter had a blast hunting for rocks. She found some unique ones. So did I. The two of us left the beach with buckets and Starbucks cups full of rocks. My wife and son? They had more fun skipping stones into the lake and goofing off as they walked. It was a fun time.

The best part of all this? No screens were involved. Except for, you know, Dad taking pictures along the way.

We wrapped up by driving down to South Haven to eat lunner (you know, lunch and dinner, as it was about 2pm) at Phoenix Cafe. Yum. Good food!! We window shopped and checked out a store owned by a friend of my wife. All in all, it was a great day as a family.

I’m excited to record another episode of Threads tomorrow night! Stay tuned for that.

Hasta,

Ben
