Thank you. I, too, was over-complicating this process when making a bootable OS X Lion disk, this works for all of the elements I require. Had to change hard disk. -Using Command+R to install OS-X doen't work. -It proposes to "Reinstall OS-X Lion". -When I click on it, it says "To dowload and restore Mac OS Open terminal, type: dateSet the date to the correct date like this:date 042109582011which, believe it or not, sets the date to 09:58 on Apr 21st, 2011Then try to recover again.

You can double check to see if it was set properly by using the “date” command once more, it should show the date/time you have just typed in (see image below).Once by R. One could also try to find one of the Apple OSX Lion Thumb drives but they are rarely available if at all. Terrible problem, but at least I didn't have to reinstall everything piece by piece. And even non-issue related re-installations are not that expensive over here. I searched the web and found this article: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4902757?tstart=0 that basically says my internal drive is malfunctioning, so it looks like I'm buying a new one. I recall that model coming in a nice box along with the restore media but if folk toss such out and you are left with missing parts, well, you are feeling Fortunately the 1 year warranty is valid for all Apple Authorized Service Providers so I would simply look for a different (more cooperating) one.
